Success Engine Overview

The Success Engine is a simple analogy for running your business. If you think of your school as an engine, and understand that in order for the engine to run at maximum efficiency, all parts must be working properly, then you'll understand how to use the Success Engine. Just as you cannot drive a car with a broken engine, the same holds true for your school. An engine with 2 faulty cylinders and 6 great ones is still a broken engine! So it is our goal to help you get the "cylinders" of your "Engine" working great and driving your school to success. Is there more to running a school than these 8 cylinders? You bet! And we'll get to those in time, but first let's hit a level 8 or higher on the parts of the MASOU Success Engine test, and then we can move on…

The MASOU SUCCESS ENGINE

Think of your school as an engine - a big old-fashion Detroit V-8. It takes a lot to keep your "engine" running at top efficiency. There are hundreds of parts to the engine, and you'll need regular service and maintenance. If you don't keep up with your required maintenance, then your "engine" is going to break down. The MASOU Success Engine identifies eight "cylinders" with seven parts to each cylinder. These 56 areas are critical to making your schools run at top effectiveness. If you have a "bad" cylinder, your engine, or "school," is not going to run very well. MASOU has designed a test to see how well your "engine" runs.

Most school owners are finding that they are exceptionally good at operating some of the cylinders, fairly well at operating some of the cylinders and poor at a couple of the cylinders. This is pretty standard across to our profession. The trick here is not to have a bad cylinder. As you work through the engine is important that you are honest with yourself. You want to know if you're honest with yourself. The answer is in results. When you can go through each of the seven steps in each of the eight cylinders and give yourself a passing grade I promise you that your school is running well.

It is our goal at MASOU to provide you with the permission, systems, and implementation processes to master each of the 56 parts to the MASOU success engine. Not only do we want to give you the answer to each of the 56 parts, we will give you several answers, and you can choose the one that fits your goals and desires.

In our continuing commitment to our MASOU members you will constantly be receiving updates and reminders to help you keep your engine running at peak performance.

MASOU Success Engine Instructions

Start by moving your mouse over the cylinder headings (Facility, Staff, etc.), and clicking on them to read an intro/overview on each cylinder.

Next, move down to the first of seven items in a cylinder, and click on it to read about the item. When you're done reading, think about your own school and how the item relates to your practices and situations. Finally, assign a "score" to the item from 0 to 9, with 9 being the best or highest score.

Continue through the remaining items and cylinders, repeating the reading, thinking, and scoring process. If your scores are high enough, you'll see a spark appear at the top of the cylinder, indicating that your school is firing on that cylinder. Get all 8 cylinders firing to be in the best shape possible with your school.
